Wichita rescue receives $50k to help provide vet care for Hilltop community
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Animal Action League is celebrating after being awarded a $50,000 grant to support pet owners in the Hilltop neighborhood. This grant is part of the PetSmart Charities Incubator grant program, which provides funds to animal rescues to increase resources in underserved areas, many of which lack access to community support, including veterinary services.

Cocking was referring to the ongoing situation between Newman Regional Health and Stormont Vail which has been ongoing for well over a year now and developed after Stormont announced plans to open a new medical facility in Emporia.
St. Francis opens primary care clinic in North Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka’s St. Francis hospital has expanded its care network into North Topeka. The University of Kansas Health System Saint Francis Campus cut the ribbon Tuesday on a new family medicine center just off Highway 75. It will provide primary care to residents in the area.

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced today that Elanco Animal Health Inc., a global leader in animal health, is investing $130 million to expand and renovate its manufacturing facility in Elwood. The expansion in Doniphan County is expected to create approximately 70 new jobs over the next two years.
Derek Chauvin transferred to Texas prison following stabbing incident
MINNEAPOLIS — Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd, was transferred to a federal prison in Texas almost nine months after he was stabbed in a different facility, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Tuesday.Chauvin, 47, is now housed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Big Spring, a low-security prison. He was previously held in Arizona at FCI Tucson in August 2022 to simultaneously serve a 21-year federal sentence for violating Floyd's civil rights and a 22 1/2-year state sentence for second-degree murder.
