Yesterday, Common headlined a concert as part of Millennium Park’s four day birthday celebration. Fans really showed up massively as they were lined up down the block to be allowed onto the lawn for free seating. It was such a big turnout that they filled up the entire venue before the performance even started.
IceHogs Community Fund and Chicago Blackhawks Foundation to Award $135,000 in Grants to Nine Rockford Area Organizations
Last year, Rockford Hockey Club was awarded $10,000 from the IceHogs Community Fund to help reduce the cost to play at the 8U level. The grant allowed the club to add 20 new 8U players while reducing costs across the board at all levels. This year's $20,000 grant will once again help reduce costs at the 8U level with a goal of adding 20 new 8U players again this year. The additional $10,000 will fund the formation of a new Rockford Hockey Club girls program for 8U, 10U, and 12U players.
Chicago, IL – One Dead in Motorcycle Collision on I-94 at Lake Ave
Chicago, IL (July 21, 2024) – A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery crash on the inbound Eden Expressway on Saturday night, Illinois State Police reported. It happened around 8:15 p.m. on I-94 near Lake Avenue. State police said the rider of a Suzuki motorcycle was involved in a crash with the driver of a white Toyota Prius, causing the motorcycle to catch fire. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, where they later died. It’s unclear if the driver of the car was injured.

(La Porte, IN) - La Porte County now has a life-saving app that could turn ordinary people into heroes. It’s called Pulse Point. As first responders are notified of a medical emergency, Pulse Point alerts subscribers to any nearby medical emergency as it’s happening and lets them know where the nearest AED is located. Pulse Point spokesperson Shannon Smith says the alert can help shave precious seconds off response times: “The goal is really to engage the community in cardiac arrest response.”

Will County Man Wanted in Grundy Co. For Failing To Appear in Court
A 35-year-old Joliet man is wanted on a warrant after failing to appear for his court appearance in Grundy County. Morris Police Deputy Chief Chad Skelton said they were called to a domestic disturbance on Twilight Drive in April of this year. During an investigation, Skelton said Justin Hill allegedly failed to exit a vehicle and threw a glass of liquid at an officer. No injuries were reported and Hill was transported to the Grundy County Jail.
