East Moline man dead in LeClaire after vehicle strikes tree
LE CLAIRE, Iowa — An East Moline man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a tree in LeClaire on Monday, July 8. LeClaire police discovered the vehicle just before 5 a.m. near the T-intersection of Forest Grove Road and SW 35th Street. Exceptionally heavy rainfall brings flash flooding in Franklin, Wright counties
(Radio Iowa) – Forecasters say parts of Wright and Franklin counties got up to a half-foot of rain overnight, bringing flash flooding to communities including Alexander, Clarion and Eagle Grove. Wright County Emergency Management Coordinator Jarika Beecher says many basements were flooded and many roads were impassible as municipal crews tried to keep up with the torrents.

George was born on January 12, 1934, at home in the farm house in rural Allison, Iowa where he grew up and lived for 74 years and died on July 4, 2024 at Community Nursing Home in Clarksville. He was able to watch that farm gain Century Farm status in Iowa in 2012. G.G. attended Jackson 4 Country School through 8th grade and graduated in 1947 (he even snuck away from home at age 4 to attend). He graduated from high school in Allison in 1951 where he served as class president his senior year. He started farming in 1950 while still in high school.
