Eagan had a stellar showing at the South Suburban Conference boys junior varsity swimming and diving championships Feb. 10 in Prior Lake.

The Wildcat squad was led by first-place finishers Gavin Yang, Riley McRoberts, Sam Frost, Ethan Jenkins and Pranav Ontivillu. Yang and McRoberts each won two individual events, and together with Frost and Liam Edel, led their 200-yard medley relay to victory in 1 minute, 56.53 seconds. The Wildcats won eight events overall.

Lakeville North had a huge victory in the 200 freestyle relay. Parker Alexander, Nicholas Anderson, Davin Berg and anchor Adyan Syed dropped nearly eight seconds from their seed time to surprise the second-place Eagan squad, touching in 1:43.72.

“Our team had a tremendous meet with lifetime bests achieved by all of the boys in the meet,” said Lakeville North head coach Dan Schneider. “The time drops they all had were outstanding, and it was sure fun to watch them swim. Certainly, the highlight of the meet had to be the 200 free relay winning the gold. It took great swims by all four of the boys to get the victory, and they didn’t disappoint.”

Nicholas Anderson finished second in the 100 breaststroke and Berg took second in the 200 individual medley for the Panthers’ top individual finishes.

Brandon Clark was Lakeville South’s top point-getter. Clark surprised the top seeds in the 200 freestyle, dropping nearly 14 seconds to capture the win. The senior captain for South also finished second in the 100 freestyle in 55.47, taking over two seconds off his previous personal-best performance, and he anchored the 200 freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish.

“The guys swam fantastically,” said South head coach Rick Ringeisen. “(They were) averaging 9.40 seconds dropped per swim.”

Burnsville was led by Seamus Boos, who won the six-dive competition with 114.60 points, and Marty Pritchard, who dropped over four seconds in the 100 butterfly to finish fifth. Jeremiah Carter dropped over one minute off his previous best in the 500 freestyle to touch the wall in under 8:30.

Eli Gobar was second in the 100 backstroke for Farmington’s top finish. Gobar also anchored the Tigers’ 400 freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish, only two seconds behind the third-place team.

The Rosemount Irish’s top finisher was Bereket Melkamu, who finished 14th in the 100 breaststroke and led off his team’s top 200 freestyle relay to an 11th-place finish.
