Upcoming On The Canals excursions in Brockport
The Village of Brockport is offering the following free events through the On the Canals program sponsored by the New York Power Authority. Ready to discover the world of birds? Join this one-hour introductory bird walk in Brockport’s Corbett Park and along the Erie Canal. No experience needed – just bring your curiosity. Learn how to use binoculars/monoculars to spot our feathered friends and be introduced to the common birds in our area. It’s the perfect way to enjoy nature, learn something new, and have a great time outdoors. Bird Walks are open to participants age 10 and up. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

DiNapoli Audit Critical of Falconer Central School District's Budgeting Practices
A state audit has found that the Falconer Central School District did not properly manage its fund balance and reserves from July 2020 through April 2024. New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the audit found that Falconer School Board and district officials failed to implement corrective action despite audits from 2009 and 2016 that identified similar deficiencies. According to DiNapoli, district officials' budgeting practices resulted in the district levying more real property taxes than needed, a significant accumulation of surplus fund balance in excess of the statutory limit and missed opportunities to lower real property taxes.
