    Youth ice fishing derby canceled

    2024-02-02

The Healthy Youth Coalition and Communities that Care coalitions have canceled the CTC/HYC youth ice fishing derby scheduled for Feb. 10.

“Unseasonably warm weather has created unsafe ice conditions and upcoming forecasted weather is unlikely to bring us any new ice,” the coalitions stated in a press release. “Our derby coordinator has been monitoring the conditions over the past couple of weeks and wanted to give families ample cancellation notice time. Safety is our No. 1 priority for our local families and their children, and we want to ensure the community that this decision was taken with all precautions in mind.”

Per Eventbrite’s policy, registration fees will be refunded 100%. Refunds can take up to 10 business days to show up on original payment methods.

As the community may be aware, the event not only serves as a healthy activity for our area youth and their families to participate in, but also as a fundraising event for our prevention coalitions, the release states.

People can still donate at www.ctcmarinettemenominee.org and find the “Donate now” section on the homepage. All proceeds go back into youth substance prevention efforts in Marinette and Menominee counties.
