HARRIS — The Bark River-Harris School District has announced a couple of new hires for the school year. Caleb Adams was hired as principal at BR-H Junior High and Senior High, while Heidi Reynolds has been appointed student success coordinator.

Adams said he is looking forward to getting to know BR-H’s students and staff in his new role.

“I’m excited to work with our amazing students and staff in my new role,” he said. “I look forward to helping achieve our mission statement of graduating students with the skills to improve our community.”

Adams has been a teacher and coach since 2022 and began his 7-12 principal duties in Harris on July 1.

“I’m confident we will build strong partnerships and a positive school culture that will move the district forward,” he said.

In his spare time, Adams enjoys golfing and coaching football.

Bark River-Harris School Board President Mark Erickson said the board was happy with the decision to hire Adams.

“Mr. Adams is a great fit for Bark River-Harris in the short and long term,” Erickson said. “We know Mr. Adams will bring great value to the educational process and Caleb has a variety of experiences that will benefit our students.”Erickson also stated that Adams knows how to continue to build the brand of the district.

Adams will replace Travis Depudyt, who moved to the North Central Area Schools as superintendent at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Bark River-Harris School District forward,” Adams said. “It will be an honor to work alongside the board of education as we serve the students, the staff and the learning community.”

Reynolds brings experience and a strong commitment to student achievement, making her an excellent addition to the district’s leadership team.

Reynolds holds a Master of Arts in Special Education from Northern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in English as a second language from Northwestern University. Her certifications include ESL, High School English and Special Education Learning Disabilities. Her professional background includes roles such as special education teacher, overseas college English teacher, and elementary reading teacher which reflect her dedication to fostering inclusive educational environments.

Reynolds expressed her enthusiasm about joining Bark River-Harris School District. “I am excited to re-join the Bark River-Harris family,” she said.

In her new position, Reynolds said she is eager to work closely with staff, students and parents to foster a nurturing and supportive school environment where every student can succeed.

“Her dedication to student success and her diverse professional background will certainly enhance the ongoing excellence of the Bark River-Harris School District,” said Erickson, the board president.

“We are thrilled to welcome Heidi Reynolds to our team,” said Jeremy Pach, superintendent of the Bark River-Harris School District. “Her expertise and dedication to special education and student success will be invaluable as we work to meet the unique needs of all our students. We look forward to the positive and lasting impact she will have on our learning community. We are really happy she chose to come back to our district to serve in this role.”
