    Marine swimmers seize fourth place at Seymour quad

    SEYMOUR, Wis. — The Marinette/Peshtigo High School swimming team participated in a quadrangular meet against Seymour, New London and Kiel on Tuesday.

    Marinette finished fourth as a team with 35 points. Seymour cruised to the win with 201 points, more than 50 better than second-place New London (150), while Kiel captured third with 86 points.

    Sophomore Kristi Anderson turned in the best individual performance for the Marines after taking second overall in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:16.83.

    Anderson added another top-five finish in the 200-yard freestyle after recording a time of 2:30.91, good for fourth overall.

    Fellow sophomore Tegan Athey competed in the 200-yard individual medley and came away with a sixth-place time of 3:01.41.

    Athey’s time of 1:42.33 also put her in sixth place in the 100-yard breaststroke.

    Amilia Reed swam the 50-yard freestyle in 56.58 seconds, finishing in seventh place. Reed also authored a seventh-place time in 100-yard freestyle (2:17.5).

    Junior Isy Stansbury took fifth overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:32.70, and also seized eighth place in the 100-yard backstroke after finishing the race in 1:43.02.

    On the relay side of Tuesday’s action, Anderson, Athey, Stansbury and Reed nabbed seventh overall in the 200-yard medley (2:53.34) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:42.60).

    Up nextMarinette/Peshtigo: The Marines competed in the Sturgeon Bay Varsity relays on Thursday, with results unavailable at press time. Marinette/Peshtigo is back in the pool Sept. 5 at Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 6 p.m.
