MARINETTE — A 37-year-old man died Friday in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash in the Town of Middle Inlet.

Marinette County dispatch received a call at 7:46 p.m. Friday of a crash on Wayside Road, near Pleasant Lane, according to Sheriff Randy Miller.

The investigation indicated that the ATV, driven by KC Duane Bolles, Neenah, Wisconsin, was traveling south on Wayside Road, when he failed to negotiate a 90-degree turn, went into the ditch and struck a tree. Bolles was wearing a helmet, however, he sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased by the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, Miller said in a news release.

He said alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in the crash that remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marinette County medical examiner. Also assisting at the scene was Crivitz Rescue.

This is the second fatal crash and third fatality in Marinette County in 2024.
