MENOMINEE — There’s a new number one team in the latest Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association football poll released Tuesday.

Menominee (4-0) jumped up one spot to overtake Marquette as the No. 1 team in 11-player football in the U.P.

The Maroons hammered Calumet 48-6 to improve to 3-0 in West-PAC Copper division play and remain one of the only three undefeated 11-man squads in the 906.

Menominee received 25 votes, including all five first-place nods.

Marquette (3-1) tumbled from No. 1 to No. 3 after falling to Lowell 61-14.

Kingsford (4-0), another undefeated 11-man team in the U.P., moved up one spot from No. 3 to No. 2 after the Flivvers edged Negaunee 29-27.

The Miners (3-1) and undefeated Iron Mountain (4-0) remain idle at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
