From LWC Karate: Three students competing in prestigious Florida tournament
FAYETTEVILLE — Three students from Lawrence World Class Karate will be participating in the 2024 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Karate Nationals to be held at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from today, July 2, to Saturday the 6th. The event is considered one of the toughest and most prestigious amateur karate tournaments in America, if not the most.
Janet M. Cowherd, 91
Janet M. Cowherd, 91, of Cazenovia died peacefully on June 27, 2024. She was born in Hamilton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Clayton and Alberta Helmer. After high school she studied business and was employed by the Mid York Press. She met the love of her life, Robert C. Cowherd and they were married 69 years until his death on Feb. 11, 2023. They lived briefly in Syracuse and the past 69 years in Cazenovia.
Proposed Manlius town hall site questioned
TOWN OF MANLIUS – For nearly two and a half hours, the Manlius Town Board got an earful from residents regarding a proposal to move forward with a $2.8 million purchase offer for two parcels on N. Burdick Street – a potential new home for Manlius Town Hall and the Town of Manlius Police Department.
Bennetts celebrating 50th wedding anniversary
Congratulations to Lee and Peggy Bennett of Skaneateles, who were joined in marriage June 29, 1974. A celebration with friends and family will take place June 30 at Elderberry Pong. Their three children and spouses and four grandchildren will be on hand to honor and enjoy them. Capping the celebration will be a week-long family reunion on Skaneateles Lake. Happy anniversary, Peg and Lee. We love you.
