Robert F. Severe storms push through central North Carolina toppling trees, causing flooding
Severe storms popped up Friday afternoon in central North Carolina.From about 2-5 p.m. multiple severe storms pushed through Durham, Orange, Franklin and Wake counties. The storms brought heavy rain, lots of lightning and strong wind gusts.Several trees were toppled and multiple fires sparked, including one that damaged three homes in Northwest Raleigh.Click here to view the latest weather advisories.LIVE RADARWhat's ahead for the weekendLabor Day Weekend got off to a rough start in central North Carolina. The unsettled weather pattern will persist throughout the weekend.The ABC11 viewing area can expect a few late storms Saturday. However, temperatures are expected to decrease next week, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Students and staff were evacuated to the school's football field outdoors after a bomb threat. Wake County Emergency Medical Service officials said that several patients were being seen due to heat-related illnesses.

Power restored after brief outage leaves thousands without power near Garner in Wake County
Nearly 4,000 customers were without power near Garner in Wake County Thursday morning. As of 7 a.m., there were 3,957 customers without power, according to the Duke Energy outage map. The estimated time of restoration was 10:30 a.m. – but power appears to be restored as of 7:20 a.m.
