Camper assaults woman multiple times in single night

Eagles Mere, Pa. — A Linden man is charged with grabbing a woman's genitals multiple times after they met at a campground in Eagles Mere, police say.

James Antho Esposito Jr. grabbed the accuser hard enough to cause bleeding from her genitals while leaving a bar and then again at a river lot, according to a complaint. Esposito allegedly told the victim “you would like it if I f****d you, I’d f**k you harder than your husband” when he first assaulted her.

The accuser met Esposito through a friend on May 18 after being invited to a campsite in the 800 block of Coal Mine Road, Trooper Ryan Joyce said. The victim and her husband along with Esposito and another woman went to the Barn Tavern after an hour at the campsite, Joyce added. Once there, the group hung out for four hours before leaving. As they walked to a truck in the parking lot, Esposito allegedly assaulted the victim for the first time.

Esposito grabbed the accuser’s jeans causing them to ride into her genitals, according to the affidavit. He made the comment before being told to stop by the victim, Joyce wrote in the report.

While her husband removed work equipment from his truck, the 64-year-old Esposito allegedly assaulted the victim a second time while she was sitting in the front seat. Esposito put one hand on the accuser’s anus and the other one on top of her vagina over her pants, Joyce said. According to Joyce, Esposito “put an exorbitant amount of pressure” on the victim with his hands. He allegedly stopped when the accuser’s husband came back to the truck.

She was asked to find his missing cell phone after the group returned to the campsite, according to the complaint.

The victim found the phone and was allegedly assaulted by Esposito a third time as she attempted to pick the it up. Esposito punched her anus and vagina causing the victim to scream, Joyce said. The victim then went into traumatic shock, closing up and not speaking with anybody, according to Joyce.

As she rode home with her husband, he noticed she was crying. The victim explained what happened after they got home. The couple went to a neighbor’s house, but ultimately spoke with Pennsylvania State Troopers at the Sheetz in Muncy, according to the report.

Statements were given before the victim was taken to Muncy Geisinger to meet with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). The victim was bleeding from her genitals into the next day because Esposito used that much force, according to the complaint.

Esposito is being charged with indecent assault by forcible compulsion, indecent assault of a person with a mental disability, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment. He is currently free on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Esposito is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at the end of the month.
