Drug death prosecutions on the rise, but most overdoses still go unpunished
Prosecutions of drug delivery resulting in death cases have increased in recent years, but still the vast majority of fatal overdoses in Northeast Pennsylvania and across the state go unpunished, according to recent data from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts. ATV rider wanted on arrest warrant
Conygham Twp. — A Wilburton man is wanted by police after he was reportedly caught stealing from a parked car last month. State police were called to a property in the 500 block of Second Avenue in just after 5 p.m. on June 29. Neighbors said William Ennis, 41, was trespassing on private property, doing donuts and burnouts on his ATV, and yelling at homeowners. He also broke into one of the reported victim's parked car before leaving the scene. When Trp. John Van Buren of state police at Bloomsburg arrived, Ennis was gone. A short time later, Van Buren was called back when Ennis returned. Police tried to make a stop on the ATV, but Ennis fled, Van Buren said. After a short pursuit, police ended the chase due to weather conditions and obtained an arrest warrant through District Judge Craig Long.

Seven locals land on volleyball all-state team
Several area athletes were selected to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State teams released on Friday. Meadville led local schools with four selections on the all-state teams. Sophomores Luc Soerensen, Tymir Phillips and Parker Gosnell were named to the first-team.
