Adel Library Summer Reading Program Ends Next Friday
The Adel Public Library is in the middle of its summer reading program but it is quickly coming to an end. The library’s theme for the summer reading program relates to the world by traveling to different regions. Patron Services Manager Amy Puck tells Raccoon Valley Radio that approximately 250 people have completed their summer reading. She stresses those that haven’t finished have until next Friday, July 26th to get it done. Puck explains the requirements for each age group.
Winterset friends team up to generously tip restaurant workers
WINTERSET, Iowa — Two best friends from Winterset are wrapping up an annual tradition. It's a road trip with a mission. Brandy Macumber and Tamara Bane shared this year's adventure with us. They take a trip together every summer and collect donations on Venmo to leave servers at restaurants big tips.
Dallas County Conservation Board Hosting Bird Hike Tomorrow
An event with the Dallas County Conservation Board is happening tomorrow, featuring some flying creatures. The conservation board invites the public to join them for a bird hike that will give participants a chance to see different species. According to the board, summer can be challenging as many birds tend to go silent in the nest. However, by mid-July, more birds emerge with younger ones learning the basic necessities of flying and capturing food.
