This Californian city’s new logo completely misses the point
The City of Visalia has been the centre of a messy logo design dispute since early May, and the longer it continues, the more chaotic it seems to get. In case you're unfamiliar with this tumultuous tale, the Californian city replaced its popular 20-year-old legacy logo with a modern minimalist design (much to the dismay of residents). In a bid to please naysayers the old logo was reinstated, but not for long, as the city decided to open up a public competition to redesign the new logo.
Man Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Demaree Street [Visalia, CA]
One Hospitalized after Pedestrian Collision near Walnut Avenue. VISALIA, CA (July 18, 2024) – One man was hurt Sunday afternoon, in a pedestrian crash on Demaree Street. Around 2:06 p.m., police officers responded to the scene near Walnut Avenue. According to the Visalia Police Department, the driver of a vehicle hit the male pedestrian for reasons under investigation. Medics transported the victim, only described as a 22-year-old man, to Kaweah Health. Reports said the man remains at the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the site and cooperated with the investigators. Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, the Visalia PD Traffic Unit is leading the investigation. Officials do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the incident. SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Marc LeForestier, of Sacramento, has been appointed General Counsel at the Department of Cannabis Control. LeForestier has been General Counsel at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office since 2017. He was a Supervising Deputy Attorney General in the Government Law Section at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General from 2013 to 2017 and served in several roles there from 2000 to 2013, including Supervising Deputy Attorney General, Director of Legislative Affairs and Deputy Attorney General. He is a member of the California State Bar, Public Law Section. LeForestier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto and a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $204,996. LeForestier is registered without party preference.
