Yadkin County teacher and coach Jack Moss has been reinstated after a suspension without pay last year.

“Jack Moss was suspended without pay from November 20, 2023 to January 1, 2024. He is no longer suspended and he has been reassigned from Forbush Middle School to East Bend Elementary School. Mr. Moss is serving as a Math Interventionist Teacher at East Bend Elementary School,” said a statement from Yadkin County Schools. Moss will also continue in his role as Forbush High School baseball coach.

Moss was first suspended with pay on Oct. 3, 2023 pending an investigation by both school and law enforcement personnel. Moss was charged with a misdemeanor following an incident involving a student, late last year according to authorities. As the investigation involved a juvenile, no additional details were released publicly about the incident. A judge found Moss not guilty of the charge in court proceedings held on Nov. 22, 2024.

Moss has been employed with the Yadkin County School system since August of 2015. Moss was also employed with the Yadkin County School system from 1998 to 2009.

This is not the first time Moss has faced a suspension from his work with the Yadkin County School system. A Winston-Salem Journal article dated October of 2008 said that Moss “was placed on leave with pay after an incident at football practice.” The article gave no further details of what happened during that incident. A Yadkin County Court official said Moss did not have any prior charges.

Yadkin School officials confirmed that Moss was placed on paid suspension in October of 2008 and was reinstated on Jan. 20, 2009. Moss resigned from the Yadkin County School system in June of 2009 to take a position with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools before returning to Yadkin County Schools in August of 2015.

According to WSFC schools, Moss was employed there from Aug. 17, 2009 to Aug. 14, 2015. According to a district representative, Moss had no record of disciplinary actions while employed there.

Yadkin County school officials confirmed that Moss was also on suspension with pay in 2022.

“While employed as a math teacher at Forbush High School, Mr. Moss was suspended with pay on April 27, 2022 until May 17, 2022. At that time, Mr. Moss was informed that he would be transferred from Forbush High School to Forbush Middle School,” said Boomer Kennedy, director of secondary schools.
