The annual "Walk to End Hunger" will be hosted by Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick on July 27, in partnership with Feeding Middlesex County and REPLENISH.

The mall also is hosting a food drive during the month of July. The bin is located in the Hallmark store near the Christmas in July ornament section.

Check-in at the mall is from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at Center Court, with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. inside the mall. Registration can be done online at feedingmiddlesexcounty.org/walk/. Registration is $5 and for every paid walker that checks in at the registration table, Brunswick Square Mall will match the $5 donation.

The East Brunswick Parks & Recreation department is helping with check-in and the East Brunswick Youth Council will be handing out water. A DJ and kids crafts also will be part of the event.

Feeding Middlesex County financially supports organizations that feed the hungry. The nonprofit organization focuses on raising funds to purchase food and equipment to assist qualifying agencies in procuring, storing, preserving and transporting food and other necessary items to those who are food insecure, through REPLENISH (formerly MCFOODS), the county food bank. Feeding Middlesex County supports more than 150 food pantries in all 25 communities in the county via REPLENISH.

In 2021, 4.7 million pounds of food was distributed via REPLENISH. The 4.7 million pounds represented food donations from food drives and permanent food collection sites as well as financial support used to purchase additional food for the pantries in the network.

People can help Feeding Middlesex County by donating money, food, volunteering and/or participating in events such as the "Walk to End Hunger."
