Helen Comperatore is coming to terms with the devastating loss of her husband Corey Comperatore, who was killed over the weekend when gunshots broke out at a Pennsylvania rally for former President Donald Trump.

In an interview with the New York Post, Helen Comperatore said President Joe Biden reached out to speak with her, but she refused his call.

“I didn’t talk to Biden,” she told the Post. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

Comperatore added that she had nothing personal against the president.

“I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics,” said the widow.

“I support Trump. That’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden,” Comperatore said. “He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”

Comperatore said Trump has not reached out.

The widow said Saturday’s rally was supposed to be an “exciting day” for the family.

But when shots rang out in an assassination attempt against the former president, Comperatore said her husband shouted “Get down,” and used his body to shield his family members from the gunfire.

The firefighter and father of two ultimately died protecting his family.

Trump said a bullet struck him in the upper right part of his ear at the event. Two other spectators were critically injured but are now in stable condition.

The 20-year-old gunman from Butler, Pennsylvania, was shot dead by the Secret Service.
