Mad River Riders Trail of the Week – The Weekly Dirt
The Weekly Dirt is a little extra dirty this week according to Mad River Riders spokesperson Rob Wilich. “While many are trying to put their homes back together, it feels a bit hard to think about trail work but we had to rip off the Band-Aid and see what is in store. In short, we haven’t uncovered any catastrophic issues yet but many that need attention. All the trail reports we are hearing from the ‘trail-using community’ have been super helpful so please keep those coming to.
Pets with Potential: Meet Reese, Tinkerbell and Oliver
PITTSFORD, Vt. (WCAX) - This week’s Pets with Potential are two dogs and a cat waiting at the Rutland County Humane Society for their forever homes. Reese is a 2-year-old hound mix currently in foster care. Staff members describe her as an incredibly active and energetic gal who loves an adventure. She will thrive in an active and social environment that can match her high energy levels. Her history with cats, other dogs, and kids is unknown. If you’re looking for an enthusiastic companion, Reese could be the furry friend for you.
The Gaslight Tinkers on the Tavern Lawn
PUTNEY, Vt. – Twilight Music continues its 21st Twilight on the Tavern Lawn series of bluegrass, folk/rock, world beat, jazz, pop, and Zydeco summer concerts on Sunday, July 21, with roots and world music quintet The Gaslight Tinkers. The seven-concert series continues every other Sunday through Aug. 18. All concerts beginat 6 p.m., in downtown Putney, on the Putney Tavern lawn – bring a lawn chair or blanket – or at Next Stage, at 15 Kimball Hill, in case of rain. Copresented with Next Stage Arts Project, the series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, The Mockingbird Tavern, Rod’s, and many other Putney-area businesses and organizations. Police search for stolen camper
TOPSHAM, Vt. (WCAX) - Police are searching for a stolen camper that was taken from a Topsham residence on Friday morning. The Gulf Stream camper was last seen Friday morning in the area of Vermont Route 25 and Village Road in Corinth. Police say the suspect vehicle is a red Toyota Tundra.

Need a walk in the woods? New England's longest rail trail is ready to help you escape, with 93 miles of pathways through northern Vermont. The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail just reopened following flooding last summer that delayed the opening of the longest rail trail in the region after wiping out essential bridges and pathways.

Rotarians step up to clean up and organize volunteers
Mad River Valley Rotarians, seeing a need and working with local organizers, put together an effort to help people impacted in floods in several Valley towns over the weekend. Rotarian Peter Colgan, Fayston, said he was approached by a local contractor who wanted to help and reached out to Rotary, offering to help with a day of service. Colgan sent out an email blast with a Google doc for people to sign up to help and then later, sent out another document Rotary organizing effort.
