Molloy School to become community center
With representatives from various groups from teens to seniors, Mayor Dorinda Borer announced Anna V. Malloy School on Meloy Road will be transformed into a multi-purpose community center, putting under one roof the many disparate programs offered to city residents. The school, closed since 2010, will have some modifications to the current structure and the addition of a gymnasium.

The festivities began at noon, with the Civil Air Patrol— Suwannee River Composite Squadron raising the American flag at the center of the Greenway to kick off the opening ceremony. The ceremony also marked the official opening of vendor booths, allowing attendees to visit local candidates and browse through a variety of handmade goods. Among the many activities individuals enjoyed were the Third Annual Cornhole Tournament and Rod Run, watermelon eating and seed spitting contests, the Bedrock De.
Somers welcomes new fire chief
SOMERS — On July 8, David Lenart officially began his role as fire chief for the town of Somers. “It feels very good,” Lenart said. “I’m very honored. It’s a great group of members to work with.
