College of Medicine researchers awarded $6M to study seniors' physical function
HERSHEY, Pa. — Penn State College of Medicine's Liza Rovniak has been awarded nearly $6 million by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The funding will be used to study approaches to encourage seniors with osteoarthritis to use the SilverSneakers benefits offered by Medicare Advantage and assess physical functioning and other patient-reported outcomes associated with long-term physical health. SilverSneakers provides Medicare Advantage members who are 65 years or older with access to exercise classes online or at physical locations across the United States.

Ohio brewery sues Pennsylvania over 'protectionist' rules that limit beer sales
A Cincinnati-based brewery is taking aim at Pennsylvania's alcohol regulations. The Oak Ridge Boys, the legendary country / gospel band, have had a tough 2023 and 2024. Longtime members Duane Allen, who joined in 1966; William Lee, who joined in 1965; and Richard Sterban, who joined in 1972, were set to celebrate 50 years of performing together with Joe Bonsall, who joined in 1973. Unfortunately late last year Bonsall had to leave behind his touring days and begin his well-deserved retirement. He sadly died earlier this summer, but his memories live on thanks to the enthralling music he and the Boys created over the years.
