Central Connecticut State University shines light on sustainability with campus additions
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Central Connecticut State University is going to great lengths to support its sustainability goals. According to the university, this semester, visitors to Devil’s Den will see what appears to be a blue picnic table outside the main entrance. Beneath its roof, which is a set of solar panels, lie seats and several outlets to provide students a recharge area for their mobile devices.

Second cleanup planned for August 28. On August 22, the Ward Melville Heritage Organization (WMHO) organized a creek cleanup event in response to the recent storm that caused significant damage to Harbor Road and the Mill Pond in Stony Brook. The event brought together over 70 dedicated volunteers from Stony Brook and surrounding areas to address the aftermath of the storm, including the removal of debris and dead fish from Mill Creek.

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a 4-0 setback against Monmouth University on the road. The Stags controlled flow through the first 20 minutes and created several opportunities, placing pressure on the Monmouth back line. Kris Naicker was up front for the first two chances, the first coming off a full sprint down the left flank before cutting back toward goal. Girl Scout Troop 1343 gives time and talent to Paws of War

In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette, a hero of the American Revolution, returned from France to tour the United States as the nation was readying to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary of independence from British rule. The Madison Historical Society will host a reenactment of the 1824 meeting in East Guilford between the Marquis and Colonel Jonathan Wilcox on Saturday, August 24 at 3 p.m. This free event on the Madison green will be followed by a celebration of the grand opening of the Madison Center for History and Culture at Lee’s Academy at 14 Meetinghouse Lane.
