Hartford Falls 3-1 Against Pittsburgh
Back on the road, Hartford Athletic falls 3-1 for their second match-up against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. The Green and Blue had a difficult start in the first half with three yellow cards along with three goals from Pittsburgh. With a penalty shot for the first one, it was a difficult moment for goaltender Monroe who dove the opposite way for a tricky strike. The momentum was down but that was until Mamadou Dieng had scored his second goal for the club in the 34th minute with an assist from Emmanuel Samadia with a striking header straight into the goal to put Hartford on the board 3-1.
State champion Canton makes Eastern Regional debut on Sunday
The Canton Junior Little League baseball team is venturing where no Canton has been before – the Eastern Regional championships. Canton won the first Little League state championship in any division a week ago with a two-game sweep over Somers to claim the Junior Division (ages 13-14) state championship.
West Hartford receives $697,000 to make sidewalks more accessible
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The town of West Hartford announced in a release on Thursday that it will receive $697,000 from the state for sidewalk accessibility enhancements. The state’s Department of Transportation awarded the town the funding through the Community Connectivity Grant Program, which is an infrastructure improvement program that provides funding for local projects to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users in communities across the state.
Rocky Hill family collects donations for impoverished village in Ghana
A family from Rocky Hill is proving a difference can be made no matter where you are in the world. On Saturday, Kwasi Asante-Boateng and Ama Asante-Boateng along with their children and church members of the Dimension Abundant Life Ministries Church in Rocky Hill, worked together to load a 40-foot shipping container with Ghana as its final destination.
Brad Tursi returns to Westport for Levitt Pavilion concert
WESTPORT — Old Dominion’s lead guitarist Brad Tursi steps into the hometown spotlight Oct. 12 with a stop on his solo “Parallel Love” tour at the Levitt Pavilion. Stony Brook University and the Simons Foundation were recently named recipients of the Insight Into Diversity magazine 2024 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award. Insight Into Diversity is the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in STEM Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Stony Brook University and the Simons Foundation will be featured, along with 82 other recipients, in the September 2024 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.
