Strong Drying Winds May Hasten the Chance of Montana Wildfires
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula valley has been buffeted over the last few weeks with strong, gusty winds; so much so that I called Bob Nester, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service to ask about the effects the winds might have on potential wildfire risks, even this early in the fire season.
MHS Offers Free State Capitol Tours
The Montana Historical Society (MTHS) is now offering free tours daily that explore the art, architecture, and history of Montana’s Capitol. “We’ve been delighted by the interest in our Capitol tours so far this summer and are excited to increase the times and days they’ll be offered,” said Darby Bramble, museum education officer at MTHS. “Since the beginning of June, we’ve seen more than 600 people participate in our guided tours.”
Awesome Setting for New Northwest Montana Public Archery Range
Just across the road from a state park that lies on the shores of one of Montana's jewels, its opening has been officially announced. Yep. The result of a project that's been in the works for a period of time is that archery shooters now have a new range along Flathead Lake. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has completed development of its public archery range at the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park. FWP recently hosted a grand opening ceremony with Governor Greg Gianforte, members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Natural Resources Department and Tribal Council, and members of the Dayton Elementary School archery team (more on that shortly).
