Aerial images show progress on mega 1.8M square-foot battery plant in Michigan
MARSHALL, MI - A high earthen berm blocks a majority of the view into Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan as motorists pass along M-96. On Monday, July 8, MLive went skyward to take a birds-eye perspective of the rural mega site project. Crews could be seen hauling large amounts of dirt and others starting to erect the exterior walls of the 1.8 million-square-foot plant. According to Ford Motor Company the project is about 20 percent complete at the 1,900-acre site. The plant itself sits on roughly 500 acres of the site.

Severe storms bring more heavy rain to West Michigan
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Severe thunderstorms racing across West Michigan late Monday night and early Tuesday morning created vivid lightning and dropped more heavy rain on already saturated ground. The storms first moved onto the Lake Michigan shoreline around 11 p.m. Monday and moved steadily eastward until clearing the area by 3 a.m. Tuesday. Doppler radar estimated rainfall showed the heaviest precipitation fell in an east to west stripe that roughly followed I-94 where between 2.5" and 4.0" of rain may have fallen.

The current judge, Michael Cooper, who has served since being appointed by Gov. John Engler in 2000, is retiring.
