WATCH: Cars underwater after storm causes flooding in East Lansing

• After heavy rainfall early Monday morning, some residents at The Quarters at East Lansing woke up to find their cars submerged in multiple feet of water.

(WSYM) - A Mid-Michigan storm has caused flooding in East Lansing.
The Quarters at East Lansing parking lot swallowed cars after East Lansing received about three inches of rainfall early Monday morning.

There were more than 20 vehicles in the parking lot that were some level of submerged, including one that was almost completely submerged.

"It was originally up to my mirrors," Kat Bonner, a resident at The Quarters, said.

Cell phone video shows what Bonner woke up to after a call from her father early Monday morning.

"My car has a system where it will send us an alert when the hazards are going off, so my Dad calls me and says 'I think your car's being broken into. Go check on it,'" Bonner said.

"So I get up, go downstairs, and there's just water everywhere," she said.

Kat's car was just one of many submerged in the flood waters on Monday. Workers at the leasing office told Fox 47 News that no residents have been displaced due to the flooding. They say a tow truck will be on it's way as soon as the water recedes.

The Quarters sits next to a wetland marsh causing the parking lot to receive the runoff from Monday's thunderstorm.
