    Suffolk leaders emphasize pool safety following 3 recent drownings on Long Island

    Suffolk County officials are stressing the importance of pool safety in the aftermath of three drowning cases this week. A 7-year-old boy and two adults drowned in backyard pools within 24 hours, according to authorities. The
    three incidents took place in East Meadow, Wyandanch and East Northport. Leaders say there have been 10 drownings in Suffolk County this year. Adults were among some of the victims. A total of 15 people also drowned in 2023, according to officials. Authorities encourage residents to learn CPR and warn against allowing unsupervised swimming at pools.
