Broadway Bistro in Providence has closed
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Another Providence restaurant has closed. Saturday was the final night of operation for Broadway Bistro. The owner told NBC 10 news a desire to embark on a new chapter is what drove the closing, after 16 years in business. He did not blame economic conditions.
21 Dogs Rescued From New Bedford Home Are Ready for Adoption
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — New Bedford Animal Control rescued 21 dogs from a home in early July, and now the dogs are looking for their new forever homes. The animals had been living in unsanitary and dangerous conditions. Some dogs lived in cages in the attic, where temperatures had entered triple digits when they were discovered.
Cat cafe could soon be coming to Providence

Dyer’s Wharf: 195 Commission Design Reaches Lowest Level Yet–Architecture Critic Morgan
Ever since the waterfront land where the old interstate once crossed the river has been opened up for development, the 195 Commission, the putative guardians of this urban treasure, has given Providence one mediocre piece of architecture after another. With the exception of 225 Dyer Street and the pedestrian bridge, every piece of the 195 puzzle, from the parking garage to the apartments surrounding Trader Joe’s, has been saddled with less-than-stellar architectural design. Dyer’s Wharf should have been a key piece in the heart of the city. Instead, it represents the evil of banality.

Taste of Rhode Island Hosts Summer Series Event
Taste of Rhode Island, a celebration of Rhode Island’s great food, local spirits and live entertainment, returned to the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick with its Summer Series on June 5. The event, produced by Pat Paolino Cruz, Pat Cruz Events, and Lupe Aguilar, Rhody Foody, showcased more than 50 of the state’s best restaurants, bakeries and caterers alongside local and regional wineries, distilleries and breweries. Guests were treated to live music, cooking demonstrations, a red carpet, and photo booth opportunities and a chance to vote for their favorite tastes along with celebrity guest judges. VIP ticket holders received early admission, swag bags with treats and access to a separate VIP lounge area. Taste of Rhode Island corporate sponsors included The Perry Group and Luke Renchan Entertainment. The event supports Rhode Island-based nonprofit MAE Organization for the Homeless.
