EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The East Providence Public Library, also known as the Weaver Library, is going to be getting a makeover.

The library received a $185,000 grant from the Champlin Foundation, a Rhode Island philanthropic organization. Friends of the East Providence Public Library raised an additional $20,000 for the library from book sales.

The funding will go toward interior improvements, including new service desks and seating for patrons. Library staff said the new desks will allow them to help people more efficiently.

“This project will provide improvements needed for the Library to fulfill its mission of being a welcoming space to facilitate self-education and promote lifelong learning,” East Providence Library Director Meredith Bonds-Harmon said.
