Movie theater with 270-degree panoramic screen coming to American Dream megamall

An eight-screen movie theater is slated to open at the American Dream mall in East Rutherford with a date yet to be determined, company executives announced Tuesday morning.

The theater will be operated by Missouri-based B&B, the nation’s fifth largest movie theater chain.

It will feature ScreenX technology, which improves on the typical movie theater experience by expanding the screen onto the side walls of the auditorium to provide a 270-degree panorama in each theater.

The venue will also feature bowling lanes, an arcade, a restaurant and full-service bar.

"We are incredibly excited to announce this deal with American Dream," said B&B President Brock Bagby. "This new location underscores our commitment to providing the most immersive and enjoyable entertainment experiences possible.

B&B also has a theater at Mall of America in Minnesota, which like American Dream is owned by Canadian developer Triple Five.

“We are ecstatic that B&B theatres will bring this one-of-a-kind movie experience to American Dream,” said the American Dream mall’s general manager, Bryan Gaus.

At roughly 3 million square feet, American Dream mall boasts an indoor amusement park with roller coasters, an indoor water park, a 300-foot Ferris wheel, indoor miniature golf and ice skating, and the only year-round indoor ski and snowboard park in North America.

American Dream also has more than 200 stores — including flagships for Toys R Us and Babies R Us — and over 50 dining options, including fast casual and sit-down.
