Football is almost back for the New York Giants.

Although the entire team is set to report to training camp until July 23rd, a select group of players will get a head start as rookies and quarterbacks will be showing up to Quest Diagnostics Training Facility at East Rutherford, New Jersey this very Tuesday the 16th.

The early reporting date allows for physical examinations, conditioning tests, closed practices, and team meetings to get new faces on the Giants acclimated ahead of a long summer.

It's important to point out that quarterbacks are permitted to report to camp at the same time as rookies but it's up to the team's discretion on requiring it. Additionally, select injured players are allowed to show up as well.

The date will mark the beginning of a long summer and the prelude to a three-game preseason that will prove highly important for a Giants team with a lot of roster spots up for the taking. It'll also prove a fun opportunity for Malik Nabers, who is already generating excitement with iconic quotes , to show off their skills.

Additionally, the Giants will hold two joint practices prior to their preseason showdowns. On August 5th, they'll hold their first joint session against the Detroit Lions as the hosts and on August 21st they'll visit the Jets' training camp.

They're one of 30 teams in the league to have joint practices scheduled as coaching staffs around the league put more emphasis on these over preseason games because of a more controlled environment. They're also one of ten teams to have multiple joint practices this year.

The Giants' decision to stay home is part of a growing trend in the NFL, as the league Communications division points out that "Excluding 2020, the 24 clubs (75 percent) that are opting to "stay home" are the fourth-most such teams since 2000... In 2000, only 10 of 31 (32 percent) teams stayed close to home."
