SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Unsettling new details were released Wednesday evening in a disturbing kidnapping case out of Monroe County that includes a man from the Midstate.

Pennsylvania State Police say two men have been arrested and accused of holding four women captive in these shipping containers.

28-year-old Davaun Jackson of East Stroudsburg is facing several charges including kidnapping and sexual assault. 19-year-old Isaiah Rogers-Keeney of Middletown is being charged as an accomplice. The two men are accused of kidnapping four women on Monday.

“It was a minor miracle no one was killed,” Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso said.

Police say shipping containers are where four victims were bound, raped, and held against their own will.

“Several victims have been extremely traumatized and scarred by this, and it was important to get these defendants off the street,” Mancuso explained.

Police say the two men told them the victims witnessed a shooting involving a suspect they have a connection to, which led them to take the women.

“It did spiral from a shooting incident in Wilkes Barre allegedly witnessed by one or more of the victims. And then there was some effort then to silence them maybe some fear that they may implicate persons involved in the shooting,” Mancuso continued.

Police say Jackson and Rogers-Keeney ordered the four victims into a vehicle, took their phones, and transported them to Jackson’s property in Smithfield Township.

Their clothing was removed, and they were forced to enter shipping containers. They were bound and raped.

Jackson also allegedly made threats to maim and kill the women while holding weapons like chainsaws. A nearby business owner says he’s shocked to hear what happened.

“You don’t usually hear that type of news around here and when it’s ten feet away from your door, where your daughters play almost on the daily, that’s wild,” said nearby business owner Chistoff Johnson.

Troopers say a call reporting a car chase led police to a nearby Walmart in Mount Pocono Tuesday morning. That’s where they found the suspects and the victims.

The two men were arraigned Wednesday morning and are being held without bail at the Monroe County Correctional Facility. A trial date has not been set yet.

A separate police investigation reveals a Northhampton County property Jackson owns has come up in the past with ties to human trafficking.

The district attorney says no charges of that nature have been filed for this case, but it’s still a very active investigation.

The condition of the four victims has not been disclosed at this time.

Police ask that anyone with additional information contact them at 570-619-6800.
