Meet Christina Manero: Glenside native and funeral director at Life Celebration by Freed-Givnish
Christina Manero of Glenside is in her 11th year with Life Celebration by Givnish. A former student at St Luke’s and a graduate of Bishop McDevitt, she initially attended La Salle University’s nursing program before finding her niche in the funeral world. She graduated from Mercer County Community College’s mortuary school in 2015 and has been a funeral director with Givnish ever since.

Interstate 95 is a lifeline along the eastern end of the United States. When a bad truck accident knocked out a bridge near Philadelphia in 2023, a team from the Transportation Department orchestrated an effort that got it replaced in a week and a half. For their work, Tony Mento, Hari Kalla and Camille Otto of the Federal Highway Administration are finalists in this year’s Service to America Medals program. DOYLESTOWN, PA—The man who helped revitalize the pavilion at Doylestown’s Burpee Park two years ago is working on a new project—to repave the basketball court that is widely used—and he’s looking for help from the community. Brian Guerriero, a borough resident who lives within a stone’s throw of Burpee Park, was honored by borough officials last year for his work on washing and painting the pavilion and then leading the effort to install plantings around the building. In a critical move, FEMA senior officials Victoria Salinas and MaryAnn Tierney, alongside Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, descended upon the beleaguered community to unveil a windfall of more than $2 million in funding aimed at constructing barriers intended as a stopgap to keep floodwaters at bay.
