NJ man gets prison for violent anti-Semitic crime spree
A 29-year-old Ocean County man who targeted Orthodox Jewish men in a violent one-day rampage over two years ago has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. In February, Dion Marsh of Manchester pleaded guilty to five counts of federal hate crimes and one count of carjacking, for his hours-long spree in parts of Lakewood and Jackson, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.

Mother and son from N.J. admit lying about cheap equipment they sold to U.S. military
A mother and son from New Jersey have both pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from the sale of cheap parts for military equipment to the U.S. Department of Defense. Linda Mika, 73, of Jackson, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey said in a news release. Kenneth Mika, 53, of Ewing, pleaded guilty to same charge last month.

JAM SESSION: Freddy Young Jr. goes in for a dunk in action earlier this season in the Princeton Recreation Department Men’s Summer Basketball League. Last Monday, Young scored 19 points to help second-seeded YSU defeat seventh-seeded Jefferson Plumbing 68-51 in a quarterfinal matchup as the league playoffs got underway. The quarterfinals will wrap up on July 24 when ninth-seeded SpeedPro plays top-seeded Princeton Supply and third-seeded Lob City faces sixth-seeded J. Majeski Foundation at the Community Park courts. The semifinals are slated for July 26 at the CP courts, starting at 7:30 p.m. The opener of the league’s best-of-three championship series is scheduled for July 29 at 8 p.m. at CP. Westfield Coach Named 2024 NJ Boys’ High School Track & Field Coach of the Year
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield High School track and field/cross country coach Christopher Tafelski has received national recognition for a second time for his leadership and performance during the 2023-2024 school year, Westfield Public Schools announced Wednesday. Tafelski has been selected by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the 2024 Boys’ High School Track and Field Coach of the Year for the state of New Jersey.
