Georgia Receiver In Jail After Arrest On Family Violence Charges
Georgia wide receiver Rara Thomas has been arrested on multiple charges of family violence, including one involving children, according to reports. Thomas, a senior, is being held in the Athens-Clarke County Jail. He has been charged with "cruelty to children-family violence, a second-degree felony, and two misdemeanor counts of battery-family violence," per Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

The Eleventh Circuit, a federal court with appellate jurisdiction over the district courts in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, on Wednesday, declined to renew a lawsuit against SAC Wireless LLC by a crane oiler who was electrocuted and seriously injured while helping remove a crane from an American Tower site in Georgia.
Athens Academy invests over $4.5 million in campus improvements
Before school ended last May, Athens Academy began construction and infrastructure improvements across their campus. This summer alone, the academy, which was ranked the No.1 private school in Athens and Northeast Georgia, is investing over $4.5 million in order to provide students and faculty with the optimal tools and spaces for teaching and learning. The projects range from major renovation of Erwin Hall and construction of a new tennis center to the repaving of all campus roadways and most parking lots for the over 150 acre land.
