Diesel Fuel Spill Near Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard
Rome police are asking that motorists avoid the area near the intersection of Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard after a wreck between an RV and a dump truck spilled approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway around 10 a.m. on Friday. As of 3:45 p.m. those at the scene estimated the cleanup could continue into Friday afternoon. "We will stay on the scene and in command until all cleanup efforts are complete," Rome Police Department Public Information Officer Kelly Madden said. The Georgia Department of Transportation and Carter's Environmental were called to help clean up the scene and the Rome Fire Department is also assisting the police department.

A driver is in custody after leading authorities on a chase through multiple counties.It started in Dunn when U.S. Marshals tried to pull a Chevrolet Camaro. The suspect kept driving, leading authorities on a chase into Harnett County and then Cumberland County.The chase ended in Godwin where the suspect bailed and ran from the car.The driver was caught and taken into custody. SYLVANIA, GA-After a flurry of recent rain outs across Georgia and Alabama in recent days, the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco finally enjoyed some dry weather on Sunday afternoon at Screven Motor Speedway. Casey Roberts, of Toccoa, Georgia, emerged victorious in the 25th edition of the ‘Rebel Yell’ at the Sylvania, Georgia facility.
