Popular tattoo shop will soon close its doors
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - It is business as usual for Hell Bomb Tattoo shop owner Steven Turner but a bomb was recently dropped on him when he found out he will have to close. "Considering the Hell Bomb here at this location it's just been home for such a long time like, it's almost like moving from a childhood home,” said Turner who also added there are many emotion wrapped up in his current location on Douglas Street.

A south-side Wichita restaurant staple is about to close, at least for now
A Wichita restaurant that has operated at Lincoln and Edgemoor for 34 years is about to close, at least for now. Po Boy Pizza, home of the famous supreme pizza roll, will close at the end of business on Aug. 6. Owner May Khoury has been running the restaurant by herself since her husband died five years ago and says she’s ready to retire. Her grown sons are both engineers and can’t take the restaurant over right away, but they say they might revive it at a different address in two or three years. Until its final day, the restaurant will offer to-go service only.
Well-known Wichita musician, producer Michael Curtis dies
Wichita musician, composer and sound engineer Michael “Mike” Curtis has died, according to longtime friend, Leif Jonker. Curtis was well-known in the Wichita music scene in the 1980s and ’90s. He also co-wrote, produced and performed the soundtrack to the seminal Wichita horror film “Darkness,” alongside Jonker.

Sedgwick County Zoo welcomes 2 orphaned black bear cubs
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Two orphaned black bear cubs have arrived at the Sedgwick County Zoo from the Oregon wilderness. The cubs, a male and a female, are believed to be around 3 months old. The cubs were discovered by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife after their mother was killed. Unable to survive on their own, they were placed at the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon, until a permanent home could be found.
