Easton man charged with eight counts of child porn possession

EASTON — An Easton man has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Travis Schwaninger, 42, was arrested for eight counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, the Easton Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit received several tips in April about Schwaninger from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. After Easton police determined Shwaninger lived outside its jurisdiction, the department reached out to the Sheriff’s Office about taking on the investigation.

On June 11, detectives executed a search warrant on Schwaninger’s home and found additional evidence from Schwaninger’s electronic devices, the Sheriff’s Office said. Schwaninger was arrested on site and transported to the Talbot County Detention Center, police said. He was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.

That Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Drug Task Force and Crisis Response Unit, as well as the Easton Police Department and Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation.
