Acadia conservation group announces $10 million campaign to build workforce housing
BAR HARBOR -- Friends of Acadia has announced a $10 million fundraising campaign to support the construction of seasonal workforce housing in Acadia National Park. According to Friends of Acadia, the "Raise the Roof" campaign is part of their commitment to help solve the housing shortage on Mount Desert Island -- which they say impacts Acadia's ability to hire enough seasonal workers.
Climate Solutions Jamboree set for July 22 on Little Cranberry Island
ISLESFORD — Join the celebration of climate solutions occurring locally, statewide, nationally and globally in a Climate Solutions Jamboree on Monday, July 22, 4-8:30 p.m., at the Islesford Arts & Technology Park on Little Cranberry Island. Engage with speakers as they cover a variety of climate solutions currently taking place, learn from local experts focused on solutions that can be implemented today, enjoy live music from a great lineup of talented musicians and take in (and take home) art created specifically for this event. The festival is free and open to all. A Climate To Thrive and Sam Shaw host the jamboree and encourage attendess to don festive attire. Snacks and drinks will be available for a small fee per item.
