Presque Isle and Fort Fairfield pitmasters take top BBQ cook-off trophies
After pulling an all-nighter preparing feasts, five barbecue groups took home trophies in the Chamber’s Smokin’ BBQ Cook-off on Saturday. The sixth annual event, sponsored by the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce, took place on the first day of the Maine Potato Blossom Festival in Fort Fairfield, drawing cooks from The County and beyond.
Flag ordinance needs further discussion, Presque Isle council says
A proposed ordinance for flag displays and other ceremonial activities in Presque Isle will go to a working group for further discussion. Following the second public hearing on the proposal on July 10, the Presque Isle City Council voted to table adopting the ordinance until more people have a chance to review it.
Aroostook House of Comfort announces 2nd annual Walk for Hospice
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Hospice Foundation, owner of the Aroostook House of Comfort, is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Walk for Hospice will take place on Saturday, September 14 at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. All proceeds will benefit the Aroostook House of Comfort.
Cary celebrates 100th anniversary at Caribou Cares About Kids
CARIBOU, Maine – Cary Medical Center will take its 100th anniversary celebration to the Caribou Parks and Recreation’s Caribou Cares About Kids event on Saturday, July 27. Matching grant helps restore historic building
HOLDEN--The historic Holden Town Hall building is getting a much needed upgrade. The two-story building, located on the Main Road in Holden, was built back in the 1870s when bathrooms were not indoors.
