Longtime Downtown Waterville Store Slated to Close Later This Month
For the last decade or so, many Central Maine residents have become familiar with the Re-Store. It's indeed a store, operated by Waterville Area Habitat for Humanity. Since its inception, the store has sold various pre-loved home-goods and building materials to the general public. The store, which has served the community well in its mission to provide affordable alternatives to brand-new (more expensive) merchandise, will be closing its doors later this month, the Kennebec Journal reported.

Hoyt Thrills Capacity Crowd in SCoNE Win at Unity
UNITY, Maine (July 15, 2024) – Unity Raceway was the center of the New England racing universe for at least one night on Friday, July 12. The McGee Automotive Family Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) Tour thrilled a standing-room-only crowd at the 1/3-mile Maine oval as it hosted its biggest event in recent history with the first full-blown Sprint Car race held in the Pine Tree State in at least a half-century.
2 women injured in Auburn crash; charges expected
AUBURN (WGME) -- Police say two Maine women were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Auburn on Tuesday. The crash happened around 6 a.m. on Washington Street. Police say a Ford Escape driven by a 77-year-old Lewiston woman was trying to cross Washington Street when she entered the path of a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 25-year-old Lewiston woman. The two vehicles then collided.

Down East Showdown Recap and Winners
This past weekend, Bucksport Recreation/YMCA hosted the 3rd annual Down East Showdown in efforts to raise money for youth scholarships and Bucksport youth basketball. There were 16 teams representing 14 schools (two schools entered two teams) from as north as Presque Isle to as south as Portland for a weekend of competitive fun basketball. Although it was hot, the gym floors held up fabulously thanks to the teamwork between the YMCA and RSU 25.
