A brand-new concept is putting the spotlight on an oft-overlooked American favorite. Bun Busterz Gourmet Dogs will be giving hotdogs a fast-casual makeover in Easton this spring, reports local media outlet 69 News .

Hot dog enthusiasts will be able to customize their ideal frank once the shop opens at 235 Northampton Street in May. The building, which can accommodate up to 25 visitors, was previously occupied by Joe’s Delicatessen.

Bun Busterz will employ an assembly-line method of meal construction, similar to those used by Chipotle or Subway. While the restaurant will offer 6 to 8 signature dogs, many guests will be drawn to the customizable option. Patrons will begin cobbling their dream frank by selecting a bun, choosing from split-top, Chicago-style, pretzel, or classic. They then choose their dog from a selection including beef dogs, turkey dogs, kielbasa, Italian sausage, or vegetarian franks. Finally, guests garnish their dogs with Bun Busterz’ impressive array of 25-30 toppings.

Speaking of the versatility of meal options, co-owner Jose Pinargote states “Of course, we’ll have all of the basics – like ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, sauerkraut, etc., but we’ll also have more unique options – like different types of peppers, potato sticks and corn. In addition to our regular toppings, which also will include bacon and chili, we might introduce some seasonal toppings. Our goal is to be as fresh as possible. So, in the fall, we could possibly have some sort of pumpkin topping.”

Customers won’t be limited to the traditional hot dog presentation, however. Bun Busterz will also offer bowls where French fries or pierogies are topped with diced hot dogs and other garnishes.

Pinargote is partnering with his wife, Nilda, and Anthony and Bridget Sherman for the venture. The entrepreneur expresses enthusiasm about bringing an exciting new concept to Easton, stating “We want [Bun Busterz] to be a fun and chill spot, where you can hang out with friends and enjoy some really great food. It’s going to have a modern look, with cool wall art, and we’re also going to have some fun music playing.”

Construction is currently underway on the project.
