A Northampton County man died Sunday after going under the water while tubing on the Delaware River in Easton, according to authorities.

County Coroner Zachary Lysek said in a news release Monday that Gary Conley, 53, of Forks Township, was on a tube on the Delaware River near Boileau Avenue, when he entered the river and did not return to the surface.

Conley was pulled to the shore, where others performed CPR on him. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus, where he was resuscitated, according to the release.

He died from complications from drowning Sunday, Lysek said. The coroner said the manner of death is accidental.
