Wet weather but not all-day rain
Panama City Fla. (WMBB) – Rain chances remain high with a stationary boundary to our north, a weak surface low to our west, and plenty of tropical moisture with the Atlantic high just to the east of the area. This will be setup through the middle of next week. That will keep the rain chances high but the coverage should still be on the scattered side vs all-day washout weather. Rain chances through next Wednesday will be 50% or higher each day with the highest rain chances Friday to Sunday. Local flash flooding will be possible where showers and storms run over the same areas or merge. Overall it should be the hit-and-miss type of action with the highest coverage happening mid-morning to the middle of the afternoon. Coastal areas could see nocturnal storms in the early morning hours thanks to the warm water and the land breeze that develops around that time. Temps will mostly be in the mid-70s to low 80s for low and low 90s for highs with the humidity it will feel like the upper 90s and low 100s daily. The tropics remain on the calm side thanks to dust and a suppressive phase of the MJO parked over the Atlantic. We could see things start to change in the Atlantic in the middle of August. Right now the areas to watch will be fronts that sneak off the coast into the Gulf or in the Atlantic for tropical activity. Right now, I do not see anything of concern.
