Here in Maryland, we take fine dining to the next level. For proof of this, look no further than Chart House Prime. One of Annapolis’s finest establishments, this bucket-list-worthy restaurant aims to impress. Chart House can be found in several locations throughout the country, yet we’d argue that this waterfront restaurant in Annapolis may just be the most beautiful. Dunkirk grocery store on retailers' divestiture list, could become Piggly Wiggly
A famous pig could be coming to Calvert County, but it would likely happen amid the squeals of several parties who are opposed to the largest proposed supermarket merger in U.S. history. The merger of The Kroger Company and Albertsons Companies Inc. was announced in 2022. It has since drawn opposition from the Federal Trade Commission and the attorneys general of several states, including Maryland. Kroger owns several chains, including...
Escape to Margaritaville at Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre
City life in the Metropolitan DC to Baltimore corridor can be harsh. We’re pulled in a hundred directions by work, family, and myriads of other obligations when sometimes just want to unplug, relax, and run away from it all. The good news is it doesn’t matter where you are or what time it is because, as they say on Island time, “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”, and this month, that magical hour is tucked away in the heart of downtown historic Annapolis in a courtyard inside a little historic building right on the harbor amidst the multitude of docked yachts and rooftop bars. Playing right into Annapolis’ self-proclaimed, laid-back nautical life, Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre is serving up a perfect cool concoction for the summertime blues, Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville. A smooth 2-hour sail through all the memorable, breezy, catchy songs that made the late Buffett a national treasure and gained him legions of loyal fans over generations who have lovingly named themselves “Parrotheads”, it’s the perfect venue for a sunset show to unplug and reset yourself.

Fiesta of Flavor at Lime & Salt
A couple years ago, Lime & Salt opened in a nondescript, small shopping plaza in the heart of Odenton and quickly gave the location life. Occupying an end unit with a corner pocket of outdoor patio space, the Mexican restaurant has become quite popular among locals, especially the vast Piney Orchard community. Quite simply, folks are happy to enjoy traditionally-prepared cuisine with vibrant drinks served in a comfortable, engaging atmosphere. And that, friends, was my immediate takeaway from a recent visit on an early-summer evening.
Theatre Review: ‘Young Frankenstein’ presented by The Talent Machine Company at Pascal Center for Performing Arts
People of a certain age will remember the movie on which the musical is based, but this production is not your grandparent’s “Young Frankenstein.” Very loosely based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 book, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein goes to Transylvania to settle his father’s estate gets drawn into his ancestors’ life work of reanimating the dead. The musical follows the movie script closely, with most of the same silly, raunchy humor à la Mel Brooks who co-wrote the book with Thomas Meehan, and also wrote the music and lyrics for the 2007 Broadway production. The energy and freshness of the young cast makes this production one to remember.
