The Blue Angels Get Their First Female Jet Demonstration Pilot
Lieutenant Commander Amanda “Stalin” Lee joined the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (better known as the Blue Angels) in September 2022. Last year, Lee debuted as the team’s #3 Left Wing pilot, flying as part of a four-aircraft diamond formation in the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Lee is currently on tour, performing at airshows across the country in her new role as the #4 Slot Pilot. Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia First Inaugural Business Meeting Held
On July 11, America's newest military advisory council, known as the Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia, held its inaugural meeting. The event brought together business leaders, government officials, military personnel, military service organizations, educators, and civic leaders to support national defense and enhance the quality of life in our region. CaRMA serves the three military installations of Fort Gregg-Adams, Fort Barfoot, and Defense Supply Center - Richmond, and brings business, government, military, military service organizations, education, civic leaders together to support national defense and quality of life for the region. The initiative is supported by the three installations, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Crater Planning District Commission, local governments that surround the installations, and chambers of commerce that serve the region. CaRMA-VA is a start-up organization chartered on February 1, 2024.

Michael Vick to appear at HBCU girls and women’s football clinic
To kick off its football media festivities, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference will have a well-known former quarterback in attendance this weekend to help grow the game. Newport News native and former Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will lend his time and expertise to the MEAC’s second annual “Girls on the Gridiron” Flag Football Clinic on Saturday at Norfolk State University. The clinic runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium, and as of Wednesday, registration is still open to the public and free.
