Maine Football Beats Colgate 17-14 to Open Season
The Maine Football Team beat Colgate 17-14 on Friday night, August 30th to open the 2024 season. The win was their 1st season-opening win since 2019. Colgate scored 1st in the 2nd Quarter to take a 7-0 lead, but Maine tied the game when quarterback Carter Peevy scored on a 3 yard run. Joey Bryson's extra point kick was good and the game was tied 7-7. The drive took 7:01, and consisted of 11 plays and went 75 yards.
Volleyball’s Valiant Effort Falls Short at Duke
DURHAM, N.C. – A memorable season-opening marathon didn't end Colgate's way in a 3-2 loss to Duke in the first of three matches this weekend inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. Colgate took the first set of the season, 28-26, and handled the third set, 25-22, but the Blue Devils on their home court secured the final two frames to shrug off the Raiders' upset bid. Duke completed its comeback victory with a 15-7 triumph in the final set.

Colgate Football is gearing up for their first contest Friday after winning six of their final seven games in 2023. “I think it’s a special group,” said Colgate Football Head Coach Stan Dakotsky. “These guys have been through a lot over the last few yearsfought really hard for the program, especially towards the end of last season when their backs were against the wall.”
Oneida YMCA takes aim with new archery range, expansion
ONEIDA — The Family YMCA in Oneida has cut the ribbon and officially opened their indoor archery range at their Seneca Street facility, according to YMCA officials. The primary purpose of the expansion is a multi-sport building housing a 20-yard archery range that will also serve as a multi-purpose space for other activities including pickleball, group fitness, and the Oneida Y’s Cancer Survivorship Program, run in partnership with Oneida Health Cancer Center, a member of the Roswell Park Care Network. The state-of-the-art archery range is part of the ongoing and growing archery program — Character Development Through Archery — now in its seventh year, officials said.

That’s running the football. We have to eliminate explosive plays on defense. These sound like routine things, but they’re harder to get done than you think. Field Hockey Opens Season With Convincing Victory
HAMILTON, NY – The Rider University field hockey team was dominant, opening the season with a 5-1 victory at Colgate Friday evening in the season opener for both teams. Adirondack Canoe Classic “90-Miler” set for Sept. 6-8
The Adirondack Canoe Classic — more commonly known as the 90-Miler — is set for Sept. 6-8, with 250 boats and more than 600 paddlers signed up for the three-day paddling stage race. The race is hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) with support from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, dozens of businesses, nonprofits and communities, as well as countless volunteers. It takes paddlers on a three-day journey from Old Forge to Saranac Lake — the first 90 miles of the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

Colgate's cross country teams are set to kick off their 2024 season this Saturday at the Harry Lang Invitational.
