Mass food distribution event set for Eaton

EATON, Ohio (WDTN) — A large distribution event is set for individuals in need of receiving food and books in Preble County.

From 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 1, The Foodbank will hold a mass food distribution event at 813 Camden Road in Eaton. According to The Foodbank, fresh produce and free grocery items will be dispensed. For kids, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio will also be on site to provide children’s books.

Michelle Riley, CEO of The Foodbank, Inc., said events to provide individuals in need with food and resources is especially important in rural areas.

“These mass distributions can be a lifeline for the families we serve, especially in rural communities like Preble County, where resources are often very limited or nonexistent,” Riley said. “We can send people home with a trunk load of groceries, along with information about how to access our other services.”

Since the event is a walk-up style, you are encouraged to bring either bags, carts or wagons to have “heavy food items” placed.

The site’s lot will not open until 9 a.m.
