Community members work to preserve former Eastern High School
A new committee is working to preserve the former Eastern High School campus after University of Michigan-Sparrow announced a 120-bed mental health facility on the site. The announcement, made June 7, outlined the health system’s plans to locate the facility on 1215 E. Michigan Ave, which a U-M-Sparrow spokesperson said had a “dilapidated interior.”
Chairs stolen from Women’s Center of Greater Lansing
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing said four brand-new patio chairs were stolen. According to the women’s center, the chairs were strapped to a wood pallet. The alleged suspect wasn’t caught on security camera. The center said the suspect most likely used the lot behind the old Scooter Store to access the property from Shepard Street. According to the center, the chairs were bought with grant money to build a new community garden.

Michigan State hockey got a huge win in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft when star defenseman Artyom Levshunov was picked second overall by the Chicago Blackhawks.
